I love quotes and I love books so today’s Top Ten Tuesday is wonderful! I’ve included a handful of favorite quotes I’ve collected in the recent past, from a diversity of books, so I hope you enjoy. I think we can all relate to reading something in a book that struck us, that made us say, “Yes, that speaks to me. That’s captured something important.” I’m really excited about reading everyone’s Top Ten Quotes today!

As usual, this weekly meme is hosted by The Broke and Bookish. Be sure to link up each week so we can visit your Top Ten!

“Books help to form us. If you cut me open, you will find volume after volume, page after page, the contents of every one I have ever read, somehow transmuted and transformed into me. Alice in Wonderland. the Magic Faraway Tree. The Hound of the Baskervilles. The Book of Job. Bleak House. Wuthering Heights. The Complete Poems of W H Auden. The Tale of Mr Toad. Howard”s End. What a strange person I must be. But if the books I have read have helped to form me, then probably nobody else who ever lived has read exactly the same books, all the same books and only the same books as me. So just as my genes and the soul within me make me uniquely me, so I am the unique sum of the books I have read. I am my literary DNA.”

    • I love that quote! I featured that in a post or somewhere else before–I’m so glad you picked that one. It really is wonderful! Looking forward to reading the rest of your quotes. 😀

  1. I love the Susan Hill quote. It reminds me of this C.S. Lewis quote:“I am a product of long corridors, empty sunlit rooms, upstairs indoor silences, attics explored in solitude, distant noises of gurgling cisterns and pipes, and the noise of wind under the tiles. Also, of endless books.”

  2. I love quotes! Collect them regularly 🙂 Have books filled with them, though I never take the time anymore to pick them off the shelf. The first quote that comes to mind is one of my favorites. It’s from the movie “Finding Neverland”: “Just…what a horrible, candle-snuffing word.”
